The emergency declaration from Florida for Hurricane Isaias was approved by the President.

FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance is available to the state of Florida to supplement state, tribal and local response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from Hurricane Isaias on beginning October 6, 2026, and continuing.

The Florida assistance is for Baker County, Bay County, Calhoun County, Citrus County, Columbia County, Dixie County, Escambia County, Franklin County, Gadsden County, Gilchrist County, Gulf County, Hamilton County, Holmes County, Jackson County, Jefferson County, Lafayette County, Leon County, Levy County, Liberty County, Madison County, Okaloosa County, Santa Rosa County, Suwannee County, Taylor County, Walton County, Wakulla County, and Washington County.

President Donald Trump’s action authorizes FEMA to coordinate all federal disaster relief efforts to alleviate the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local Florida population, and to provide appropriate assistance to save lives, to protect property, public health and safety and to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe.

Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize, and provide at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency. Emergency protective measures, limited to direct federal assistance, will be provided at 75% federal funding.

“I’ve received word President Donald J. Trump has approved our emergency declaration,” Senator Ashley Moody posted. “This will help our state recover after Isaias.”

Senator Ashley Moody was on the ground in Florida with Governor Ron DeSantis providing emergency response information. She said that linemen are restoring power, crews are clearing downed trees from roads, and emergency workers are facing long days on little sleep. “We’ve been here before, Florida. Whatever daylight reveals, we will recover. Floridians are resilient, and our state is laser-focused on the work ahead,” the Republican Senator posted.

Brett H. Howard has been named the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal response operations in the affected area. Designations may be made later if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further damage assessments, according to FEMA.
